Eligibility

PAPF Overview

A PAPF (Previous Athletic Participation Form) must be completed for any athlete who did not attend TMHS/THS and its feeder schools continuously since 8th grade. Complete the PAPF as early as possible—ideally during the athlete’s freshman year if they moved in then, rather than waiting for varsity participation.

The head coach of the sport will:

  • Start the PAPF with the parent present or by sending the questionnaire via the UIL Portal

  • Ensure the previous coach’s email is entered

  • Notify the athletic coordinator via email once the form is submitted, including relevant details

The athletic coordinator will:

  • Complete and send the PAPF to the previous school
Forward it to the DEC once the previous school completes Section III

  • Track and follow up on outstanding forms

Important: Head coaches are responsible for verifying all information. Inaccuracies can lead to forfeited games and possible job action. Home visit procedures must be followed per campus coordinator guidelines.

Steps to Complete TISD Eligibility:

  • Identify athletes not from our junior high feeders

  • Schedule an in-home visit with athlete and parents

  • Complete the PAPF via the UIL Portal with previous coach’s info

  • Email the athletic coordinator with athlete details and confirmation of submission

  • Monitor the PAPF status to ensure varsity eligibility approval

UIL Eligibility Forms

After the TISD eligibility form  and PAPF is complete and the athlete has been approved for varsity competition, the head coach will complete the UIL varsity team sport eligibility form or the individual varsity sport eligibility form (original or supplemental) through the UIL portal. Please read the forms carefully and make sure you understand each column as you complete it. You can find directions here. When the form has been completed email the athletic coordinator to let them know it has been submitted.

Academic Eligibility
It is the responsibility of each head coach to ensure that all athletes competing for TISD are academically eligible. This includes credits and grades for each grading period. The TISD UIL eligibility calendar can be found here.  It is the responsibility of every coach to follow and understand the eligibility requirements.  At the end of each grading period, head coaches, in season and out will be responsible for completing a grade form for athletes in their athletic period.  The grade report will include total number of athletes in the period, number of athletes passing, passing rate, number of athletes on A/B honor roll and A/B honor roll percentage.
